Today Grimm fairy tales are eagerly read by many young readers. These story tellers widespread tales such as Rumpelstiltskin, Hansel and Gretel, Snow White or the Frog Prince Fairy Tale.

Jacob and Wilhelm were the brothers grimm and hadn't intended on being storytellers for children's fairytales. children's fairytales.

They were scholars, German professors, and were more concerned with their preservation of the German culture.

They were both born in Hanau, Germany, and Jacob was the first to be born in. That was in January 4, 1785 and Wilhelm was born a year later in February 24.

After their father passed away, when they were children, their mother struggled but managed to provide them an education.

They later did law at the University of Marburg and by their twenties they began their studies in linguistics and philology.

In fact their success nowadays is due to research and collection of fairy and folk tales.

In 1806, Jacob and Wilhelm were helping a friend writer to publish a folklore collection and started to gather tales in their free time.

But they became impatient with their friend's delays and published Children's and Household Tales in 1812.

Even though they took up different roles in their careers, they ended up following each others steps very closely, and published other volumes after that.

These were modified and made more suitable for children.

They weren't, as they had claimed, from exclusive German sources and did just as Perrault had done.

Indeed, the Brother's Grimm created a discipline which they never practiced.
